Nagoya University was established in 1871 and is located at Chikusa-Ku, Nagoya. It was chartered as a university in 1939. It is a Japanese National Research University and was the 7th imperial university in Japan. It was one of the first five designated National universities and was also selected as a top type university of top global university project by the Japanese government. It is Japan's third highest-ranked higher education institution and ranks 84th worldwide. Nagoya University is the original birthplace of the Hirata school of chemistry and the Sakata school of physics. 7 Nobel Prize winners have been associated with Nagoya University, the third most in Japan and Asia, just behind Kyoto university and the University of Tokyo. Also, students can move freely to any corner of the city as both public and private vehicles are well connected.There are three methods to reach Nagoya from Nagoya University: by subway, cab, or on foot. Take the Higashiyama Line to Motoyama Station (15 minutes), then switch to the Meijo Line to reach Nagoya Daigaku Station.
